Dancer of the Week: Adalyn Cook

This week, Endless Mountains Dance Center is proud to celebrate Adalyn Cook as our Dancer of the Week!

Adalyn is 13 years old, is entering eighth grade, and has been dancing for 11 years. She currently participates in Hip Hop, Lyrical, and our Competition Team. After more than a decade of dancing, she continues to approach her classes with kindness, determination, and a willingness to grow.

At our 2026 recital, Adalyn was named EMDC’s Most Improved Dancer. This special recognition celebrated the progress she demonstrated throughout the season and the effort, consistency, and perseverance that made that progress possible.

Growth in dance is about much more than learning new choreography or mastering a single skill. It happens when a dancer keeps showing up, continues working through challenges, and allows herself to become more confident over time. Adalyn’s dedication made her a wonderful choice for this award, and we are incredibly proud of everything she has accomplished.

Getting to Know Adalyn

Adalyn describes herself in one word: kind.

Her favorite style of dance right now is Lyrical, and her favorite dance skill is leaps. When asked about her favorite part of dance class, Adalyn answered simply, “All of it!”

One of her favorite recital memories is watching the younger students perform their dances. Her answer reflects the thoughtful and caring personality she brings into the studio. Even during the excitement of recital day, she takes time to notice and appreciate the dancers around her.

Adalyn shared that the people in her class and her teacher make her feel proud at dance. She named Miss Cass and Miss Emily as two of the people who inspire her as a dancer.

Advice for a New Dancer

Adalyn offered a reassuring message for any dancer who may feel nervous before beginning:

“Do not worry. Everyone is very nice and is here to help you.”

Her advice is an important reminder that no dancer is expected to know everything when they first arrive. Dance is a journey, and every dancer learns at a different pace. At EMDC, our teachers and students work together to create an environment where dancers can ask questions, make mistakes, build confidence, and continue improving.

Adalyn’s This-or-That Favorites

Adalyn chose:

  • Jazz over Ballet

  • Leaps over Turns

  • Costume Try-On Day over Pajama Week

  • Fringe Costumes over Glitter Costumes

  • Across the Floor over Center Floor Combos

  • Stage Lights over Studio Mirrors

  • Missing a Water Bottle over Missing Dance Shoes

What She Loves Most About EMDC

When asked to complete the sentence, “The thing I love most about EMDC is…,” Adalyn answered:

“The people, the great teaching, and if you can’t get a dance move, they will help you.”

We could not have said it better.

Adalyn’s response reflects the supportive community we strive to build at Endless Mountains Dance Center. Dance education should challenge students, but dancers should never feel as though they have to face those challenges alone. Our teachers are here to guide, encourage, and celebrate each student through every stage of their development.

Congratulations, Adalyn, on being named our 2026 Most Improved Dancer and this week’s Dancer of the Week. We are proud of your growth, your kindness, and the positive energy you bring to EMDC!
