This week, we are so excited to celebrate Caitlyn Wurzler, a senior and member of the Class of 2027 who has spent the last 14 years growing up through dance at EMDC.
Caitlyn trains in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, Musical Theater, Pointe, and with our Competition Team. Through all of those styles and all of those years, she has become a dancer known not only for her talent and work ethic, but also for the joy and positivity she brings into the room.
When asked to describe herself in one word, Caitlyn chose bubbly, and it could not be a more perfect fit. Her dance friends would likely say she is known for her positive attitude, and that light is something she shares so naturally with the dancers around her.
Right now, Caitlyn is especially loving jazz and contemporary, and her favorite skill is leaps. But when asked about her favorite part of dance class, her answer was simple: all of it. That says so much about who Caitlyn is as a dancer. She has a love for the full experience- the movement, the challenge, the creativity, the friendships, and the feeling of being part of something bigger.
Caitlyn says dance first became special to her because it gave her a creative outlet and a way to express herself in so many different ways. That love for expression continues to shape the dancer she is today. Whether she is performing something strong, joyful, emotional, or sassy, Caitlyn brings herself fully into the movement.
This season, Caitlyn is proud of her strength and perseverance. She feels she pushed herself, kept working, and saw that effort pay off. We have loved watching her continue to grow into a dancer who leads with both heart and determination.
As a senior, Caitlyn hopes younger dancers learn from watching her how important it is to be true to themselves, truly express who they are, follow their passions, and find joy in everything they do. That is such a beautiful message, and one that Caitlyn has lived out in the studio through her attitude, effort, and love for dance.
Her advice to a brand-new dancer who feels nervous is:
“Remember that you’re dancing for yourself, so as long as you’re having fun and feel confident, that’s all that matters.”
The thing Caitlyn loves most about EMDC is the community and family, and after 14 years, Caitlyn is truly part of the heart of that family.
And yes…
Caitlyn is a SENIOR this year! AHHHHHHHH! 💜
Caitlyn, we are so proud of the dancer, teammate, leader, and person you have become. Thank you for bringing your joy, positivity, perseverance, and heart to EMDC. We cannot wait to celebrate this senior season with you.
